We just had our first snow at Home Restaurant. It’s so
beautiful when the garden starts to fill with snow. I always get surprised when
I see customers walk past the kitchen and out to the garden patio on those amazingly cold nights;
but they leave having truly enjoyed a special experience. How often do you get to sit outside,
under toasty heaters and eat a delicious meal?
There is something so incomparable
about this New York City
restaurant in a city where everything is constantly compared. Tucked
away in a dimly lit garden, surrounded by wintery trees and dark buildings, the patio is the first
place I go to when I get to the restaurant and last place I look before I
leave. As our regular customers know, you can find me out there in the
afternoon putting the finishing touches on the nightly specials. I've been
putting myself full force into the pasta specials. Making fresh pasta in the
morning clears my head and gets me excited about the day ahead.
The additions to the menu have been created to please— whether you are hungry or would just
like a small plate, with a glass of wine. Some nights I feel like something
light, like a small plate of the seared scallops with celery root and apple
slaw; and most times I want to sit down and have a great, hearty meal like the
braised short ribs.
